In Burkina Faso gold has become the first product of exportation, exceeding even cotton. In the last year gold extraction in Burkina Faso has more than doubled, compared to last year, reaching more than eleven thousand tons. These results are possible thanks to the reforms done to improve workers capacities and to reduce the cost of gold extraction. Mines are in fact going through an exceptional moment of development due to the stock exchange prices. However together with the excellent industrial results in Burkina Faso gold mines, there should be registered the awful general situation and lack of security of mine workers. These circumstances have recently caused violent insurgences, mine workers are exasperated because of the harsh labor conditions and because of the numerous on site accidents.
